A damp wall can make it difficult to know which trade to call. We investigate whether concealed water or heating pipework is contributing to the problem and trace the evidence before proposing access.
When this service can help
- A stain that grows or returns
- Paint bubbling near a possible pipe route
- A wet patch that changes with heating use
- Damp without an obvious external cause
How we investigate
We review the position and timing of the damp, accessible connections and nearby rooms. Moisture and temperature patterns can help guide the assessment, with appropriate pipe testing and tracing where required.
Before the appointment
Note when the patch first appeared and whether it changes after water use or rain. Photographs over several days can help show its progression. Tell us about any previous damp treatment or plumbing repair.
From the findings to the fix
Opening the wall is normally reserved for a justified access point or a necessary further check. We explain the likely disturbance before starting. Plastering, painting and decorative finishes after access are excluded from the fixed-price package.
For residential work, the £1,195 total includes investigation, access, the plumbing repair, parts and materials, testing and a report. The £100 booking deposit is deducted from the total. Commercial instructions are quoted separately.
Decorative and remedial reinstatement after access is excluded. The repair workmanship comes with a 12-month warranty. We explain the job before the appointment is confirmed.

GOOD TO KNOW
Your questions, answered.
Can a damp wall be caused by something other than a pipe leak?
Yes. Condensation and external water ingress are among the possible causes. The investigation is intended to establish what the evidence indicates.
How does the £100 deposit work?
First, contact us about the leak. Once the job and appointment are confirmed, we send you a payment link for a £100 booking deposit. This is deducted from £1,195, leaving £1,095. Sending an enquiry does not take a payment or confirm an appointment.
Will you need to lift floors or open walls?
Detection helps narrow down the source before access is made. Some leaks require floors, walls, ceilings or external surfaces to be opened so the pipe can be repaired. We explain what is needed and aim to avoid unnecessary disruption.
Can I claim through my insurance?
We provide a detailed Trace & Access report for you to submit to your insurer. Acceptance and reimbursement depend on your policy, excess, limits and insurer’s decision. Check any approval requirements with your insurer before work begins.
